Risou no Musuko #1

Synopsis

Suzuki Umi is a single mother and her ultimate goal is to bring up her son, Suzuki Daichi, to be an ideal, perfect son who will repay her by buying a house for her (lol). 16 years later, Daichi decides to turn down his friends to watch a concert because that day is his mother’s birthday and he wanted to buy a present for her. He bought a bouquet of edible flowers and turned up at her workplace (a place that makes bentos), only to see his mother getting into a car with a man.

Suzuki comes home to see her son sitting at the dining table, dazed, holding the bouquet of flowers, in the dark (lol) XD. Daichi demanded to know who the guy is and it turned out that Suzuki’s boss, Kobayashi-san, had said that he wanted to ask her whether she would want to be a official employee for his bento shop and drove her out for lunch. Daichi, on the other hand, didn’t feel that it’s a good opportunity for his mum but felt that her boss had hidden intentions. Of course they ended up arguing when Suzuki insisted that she wanted to take up the position no matter what because she wants to earn more money to support the family.

Daichi went to Kobayashi’s house to look for his wife and showed her the photos of Suzuki and Kobayashi in the same car and claimed that they’re having an affair lol WTH. Kobayashi-san turned up the next day with scratches on his face (lol his wife scratched him :P) and told Suzuki that he wanted to take back his offer on making her an official employee. Haha, so Daichi managed to chase off the guy secretly without his mother knowing XD. However, Suzuki will be getting a new job of working at the cafeteria of a notorious boys high school! Lol Daichi is troubled again. (What a mothercon! :P)

And yes, Daichi decided to transfer to that school because (1) he wanted to protect his mother, (2) school fees at his prestigious high school are expensive compared to the notorious high school. Of course Suzuki was shocked and angry because her ultimate goal is to raise her son well and not have him study in a notorious school! However, Daichi assured her that he will study here properly and get into Toudai anyway so it doesn’t matter where he studies.

The seniors in the boxing club gathered the year one students together and ordered them to step on their mother’s photos because he doesn’t want any weaklings or mothercons in the school (lol what kind of crappy logic is this). Turns out that Daichi and another classmate are the only ones who didn’t step on the photos and were hit by the seniors T_T.

And the funny thing is… Daichi’s classmate turns out to be Kobayashi’s son, Kobayashi Kouji. They cooked up a lie that Kouji came to Daichi’s rescue and fought off bad guys who were attacking Daichi, to cover for Kouji’s injuries lolol. Kouji’s family is RICH and owns the Marukoba construction business and the bento shop is only one of their small side projects. Kouji’s mother wanted her son to study at the boys school to “subdue” those gangsters in school and to build up his leadership qualities because he would be the person to manage those brutish construction workers under him in the future (lol what kind of funny logic is this). Kouji wanted to give Daichi money for helping him just now but Daichi refused the money and told Kouji that he shouldn’t just listen to his mother all the time and should stand up for himself. Oh and Daichi denied that he himself is a mothercon and that he just loves his mother, that’s all.

The next day, Suzuki heard from one of the old ladies working at the cafeteria that her own son betrayed her and cast her aside despite working hard to bring up her son well and that the feeling of betrayal by one’s own son was even worse than being betrayed by a 100 different men. Suzuki firmly believes that such a thing would never happen to her. Daichi and Kouji were caught by the seniors again and forced to step on their mother’s photos and Suzuki WITNESSED everything and thought that her own son betrayed her (Oh no!).

Yeah and they got into an argument in the rain. Daichi was saying that he stepped on the photo because Suzuki had told him before that it’s better to do that than be picked on by the seniors. However, Suzuki was pissed because Daichi had told her before that he would never step on her photo. Suzuki left with the umbrella, leaving Daichi in the rain. (A wet Yamada is fine too! :P)

Daichi’s PE teacher seemed to show an interest in Suzuki. Suzuki had a conversation with one of the cafeteria ladies saying that she has never thought of a remarriage but the cafeteria lady said that she should consider because when her son grows up and gets married, she would be all alone.

Daichi and Kouji were bullied by the seniors because the seniors knew that they had tricked them. Daichi was hit by the senior badly in the boxing ring. Mifune-senpai tore up the photo of Daichi’s mother and Daichi was pissed and suddenly regained energy and gave the senior an epic “mothercon koala” punch! \(^_^)/ But… he missed the target and hit the air instead orz( lolol epic troll). On the other hand, Suzuki had a chance encounter with Ikeda-sensei, the arts teacher and she stares at him in surprise because he resembles her husband…

Not bad for a first episode. It was quite funny at times. I’m not sure whether I’ll blog this weekly yet, even though I admit that I watched it purely for Yamada Ryosuke and I wasn’t disappointed by his performance. I bet all the okaasans who watch this drama must be daydreaming of him being their perfect son XD.
